IIT Delhi Research Scholar Mohammad Adnan Selected for the 69th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting
New Delhi: Mr Mohammad Adnan, a research scholar in the Department of Physics at Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, has been selected for the 69th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting taking place from 30 June to 05 July 2019 in Lindau, Germany.
Mr Adnan is currently a doctoral student under the supervision of Prof G. Vijaya Prakash, Nanophotonics Labs, Department of Physics, IIT Delhi.
Getting selected for the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting is recognition of a researcher’s work in his/her respective field.
The selection is very prestigious for the researchers as only the 600 most qualified young scientists from around the globe are given this opportunity to enrich and share the unique atmosphere of the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings.
Speaking about his selection, Mr Mohammad Adnan said, “This will be a great opportunity for me to interact with some of the great Noble minds congregating from across the world at Lindau. Interaction with one of the 2018 Noble Prize winner in Physics Donna Strickland at Lindau will be very much fruitful for me as it will provide me an opportunity to learn more about ultrafast processes and sub femtosecond generation phenomena.”
Each year since 1951, Nobel Prize winners in Chemistry, Physics, Physiology or Medicine have been meeting in Lindau, Germany, to discuss major issues of importance to their fields with students from around the world. The meetings include lectures, panel/ round-table discussions on interdisciplinary topics and informal small- group meetings with the Nobel Prize winners.
The Department of Science & Technology (DST) has been sending a group of students /young researchers to these meetings, since 2001. This time, the 69th Noble Laureate Meeting is dedicated to Physics. The German Research Foundation (DFG) will be organizing visits to the German Research Institutes or Universities who are engaging the state of the art research and education in the above referred theme, during the Post Lindau week, i.e. during 6th-12th July 2019.
Mr Adnan is currently working on high intensity ultrafast light mattter interaction of special kind of metal organic framework which is very useful for advance optoelectronic devices.
He has 03 international journal papers and few other high impact research journals are under pipeline. He has presented his research highlights in several international conferences and several highly reputed national conferences/workshops. He got best poster presentation award for his research work presented in the “2nd Departmental Symposium on Advances in Physics – 2018, IIT Delhi”.
Mr Mohammad Adnan is also recipient of Newton Bhabha Fellowship to carry out his research work at University of Cambridge, UK for a duration of 4 months.
Mr Adnan has been a topper throughout his academic career. He is University topper in his Master’s degree (M.Sc.) and also qualified National Level Talent exams such as GATE and CSIR. He has been awarded with INSPIRE scholarship during his graduation and INSPIRE fellowship award to continue his research work.
