Gandhinagar: Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) is going to host its 12th Convocation on the campus on July 29, 2023. A total of 456 students will graduate from the Institute this year. Dr BVR Mohan Reddy, Indian entrepreneur and Founder Chairman and Board Member of Cyient, a global technology solutions company, will be the Chief Guest on the occasion.

Taking a step forward towards Digital India, for the first time from this year, the graduating students of IITGN will be awarded verifiable and tamper-proof digital degrees, mark sheets, and medal certificates in USB drives so that they can access them from anywhere. The digital degrees will have the digital signatures of the Chairman of the IITGN Board of Governors, the Registrar, and the Director and any attempt to change even a space, comma, or any other detail on the document will make the signatures invalid. The Institute will upload these digital degrees into students’ DigiLocker, and they will be able to access and download them in PDF format using their Aadhaar number for administrative use, such as verification for various applications.

The event will begin with an academic procession, followed by a report by the Director; award of degrees; address by the Chairman of the IITGN Board of Governors; presentation of medals and Institute Fellow Awards; and Convocation address by the Chief Guest. The event will also be streamed online on IITGN’s YouTube channel (iitgn1).
