IIT Jammu Celebrates 77th Glorious Year of Indian Independence
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jammu resonated with patriotic fervour as it celebrated the 77th year of India’s hard-fought Independence. The ceremonial proceedings were inaugurated with a dignified Guard of Honor, followed by the hoisting of the Indian tricolour by Prof Manoj Singh Gaur, Director, IIT Jammu. Gracing the event were the institute’s revered faculty, diligent staff, and enthusiastic students, who gathered in unity to mark this significant milestone.
A spectrum of engaging activities was meticulously curated for the students, faculty, and staff in the spirit of the occasion, including a symbolic Freedom Run and an invigorating Painting competition. The Freedom Run, which not only embodied the essence of freedom bequeathed by our valiant forefathers but also tested the mettle and determination of participants, the event received generous support from the Taj Vivanta.
Amidst the poignant moments of the 77th Independence Day, Prof Gaur extended his heartfelt felicitations to all attendees. He underscored that the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ was a heartfelt tribute to the storied history, rich cultural heritage, and remarkable accomplishments of the people who have been pivotal in shaping India’s trajectory through the sands of time.
A dazzling tapestry of culture was unveiled during the event’s captivating cultural dance and music performances, which were artistically rendered by the talented students. The confluence of diverse cultural expressions left the audience spellbound, epitomising India’s cherished multicultural ethos.
Celebrating academic excellence, Prof Gaur and Prof Kannan Iyer, Dean Academics, bestowed honours upon exceptional students from various disciplines and batches. The jubilant victors of the Freedom Run were also applauded and awarded for their spirited participation.
The introduction of the new student council marked a significant moment as its members pledged to uphold their responsibilities with utmost ethical integrity.
