IIT Ropar concludes its two- day ‘Thematic Conference in Chemical Sciences today
Rupnagar: The Indian Institute of Technology Ropar concludes the two-day ‘Thematic Conference in Chemical Sciences (TC2S-2017) with the valedictory function and prize distribution ceremony today. The Thematic conference on the second day witnessed the sessions on “Sustainable Alternative Energy Resources” by Prof. Vijaymohan K. Pillai from CECRI. The post lunch session emphasized on “Sustainable Organic Synthesis” wherein Dr. Subhrata Ghosh from IIT Mandi and Dr. Akkatu. T. Biju from NCL, Pune gave lectures on their respective field of expertise.
The conference proved to be an aimed to create an environment to explore the latest technologies and bring together current research on different aspects of sustainable chemistry- of particular interest, in the different areas like preparation and characterization of organic, inorganic, and energy materials; sustainable catalysis: heterogeneous & homogeneous catalysis, photo-catalysis, electro-catalysis, and bio-catalysis; chemical and electrochemical sensors; development of alternative energy resources; sustainable drug development and delivery; modelling and simulation studies of energy materials, including storage materials. The conference gave an open platform to the students and Postdoctoral fellows to give oral presentations and posters presentations.
Among the other dignitaries’ present were Prof. Sarit K Das, Director of IIT Ropar, who was the patron of the conference, Dr. Ch. Subamaniyam of IIT Hyderabad, Dr. Tharamani, C. N from IIT Ropar.
