Inauguration of Census Data Research Workstation at Maulana Azad Library

 

Aligarh : In a stride towards advancing research and academic pursuits, the Registrar General and Census Commissioner, under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India, inaugurated the Census Data Research Workstation at Maulana Azad Library (AMU). The ceremony, hosted at the Cultural Hall of MAL, marked the establishment of four dedicated workstations at the Digital Resource Centre (DRC) of the Library.

The Census Data Research Workstation is a cutting-edge facility designed to facilitate comprehensive research utilizing census data. Aimed at providing educators, researchers, and data users with advanced tools and resources it is related to multi-purpose developmental initiatives, their monitoring, and evaluation.

Equipped with state-of-the-art technology and advanced infrastructure, the workstation enables scholars and students to delve into demographic patterns, socio-economic trends, and other vital data points crucial for academic and policy research.

The dignitaries present at the event included the Chief Guest on the occasion Prof. Mohammad Gulrez (Vice-Chancellor, AMU), Guest of Honour Mrs. Sheetal Verma, IAS (Director Census Operations, UP, India; Director of Citizen Registration, UP, India), and Prof. Nishat Fatima (University Librarian & Member Steering Committee CDRW), among others. Their presence highlighted the collaborative effort between the government and academia in advancing research initiatives.

Mrs. Sheetal Verma, IAS, acknowledged the collaborative efforts in fostering an environment conducive to advanced research. Prof. Mohammad Gulrez commended the government’s initiative and underscored the role of the workstation in empowering researchers to contribute meaningfully to their respective fields.

Prof. Nishat Fatima, University Librarian, in her welcome address emphasized the value the Census Data Research Workstation would add to the existing library resources. Prof. QM Ali stressed the importance of harnessing census data for informed decision-making and policy formulation.

The inauguration ceremony concluded with a symbolic ribbon-cutting, officially marking the commencement of operations at the Census Data Research Workstation. The initiative is expected to foster a culture of data-driven research at AMU and nearby areas, contributing to the academic and intellectual vibrancy of the institution.
