The Annual Cultural, Sports and Business Fest of Sri Sri University – Orion 2023 beganwitha mega Inaugural Ceremony on the 27
th of January 2023 at the Sri Sri University campus. This year Orion hosts more than 30 inter-college events in sports, culture and business namedas Shaurya, Umang ad Takshak respectively. The ceremony was graced by Shri AshokChandra Panda, Hon’ble Minister, Dept. of Science & Technology, Social Security andEmpowerment of Persons with Disabilities & Public Enterprises Government of Odisha, astheChief Guest. The Inaugural Ceremony of Orion started with Dr. Vijaya Lakshmi Mohanty, Director HRDC, performing the Gurupuja which filled the air with the sonority of its hymns. This wasfollowed by the guests lighting the lamp, as the students of Sri Sri Gurukul induced vibrancyand tranquility into the surrounding with their divine vedic chants. Captain Chandra ShekharPanda, Director Student Affairs, welcomed the gathering and pondered thoughts on thenineyears of journey of Orion nurtured by the students and management of Sri Sri University. Prof. B.R. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, Sri Sri University commended the experiential
knowledge obtained by independently organizing Orion at such a large scale and wishedthebest of wishes for the upcoming fest. Shri Ashok Chandra Panda, took the podiumandthrewlight on the significance of demographic dividend by saying that “Youth is the power andhope of the nation”. He mentioned that the Government of Odisha, under the able guidanceofShri Naveen Patnaik, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha, endorses the power of art andcultureas it ascends the petty boundaries of discrimination. He claimed that Orion is the definitionof“knowledge with finer sensibility”. He applauded Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Ji for hisinvaluable contributions towards upholding culture, knowledge and heritage all across theglobe after which he declared the fest, Orion 2023 open. The ceremony witnessed the melodious Hindustani music and the mesmerizing Odissi danceperformance, by the students of Performing Arts, which depicted the Eastern values glorifiedby the University. The event ended by offering a vote of thanks to the mentors, participatingteams, alumni, student coordinators of the organizing committee, media friends, SSUleadership and Management.
