The Indian Institute of Art & Design (IIAD) organized Orientation Day 2019.

New Delhi: Indian Institute of Art and Design (IIAD) organized the Orientation Program for its fifth batch of Design students. The Orientation Ceremony was held at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi – Seminar Hall. The objective of the event was to give the new students information about their chosen design discipline and familiarize them with the various resources at the Institute that will enhance their academic experience at IIAD.

The event was attended by honourable dignitaries, Industry professionals, Chief Guest M.K.Venu Senior Journalist, Faculty members and the staff of IIAD.

Dr. Jitin Chadha, IIAD’s Founder Director, interacted with the students and their parents through his welcome address. He gave a perspective to students on the design journey that lies ahead of them, how every day at IIAD will be a new challenge for them that will push the limit of their thinking. He said, “Over the duration of your course, you will be exposed to different levels of design principles, concepts, and approaches.” Dr. Jitin Chadha shed light on the educational philosophy of IIAD as an institution that is committed to grooming ethical, reflective and entrepreneurial designers, design thinkers and problem solvers who are not just Industry-ready but Life-ready.

Chief Guest M.K.Venu shared insights on how Design should be looked in the larger context, as a way of life. Technology should not act as an impediment in the creative design process. Addressing the gathering, he said, “Design gives you a new way to life but when you deal with instruments to create a design, keep in mind that you should not become the slave to any instrumentality. Don’t let your creativity be diluted by the technology”.

The occasion included an inspirational speech by the Dean- Academics, Professor Usha Patel, who elaborated on the role of Educators and the moral, ethical and academic responsibilities of sincere learners. She also spoke about the importance of Design as an integral element of our existence and how it has the power to bring about immense change in the world.

The Head of Operations, Ms. Simrat Joshi, introduced the Faculty and Staff of IIAD to the new batch of students. She took the new students through the highlights of the Course Book and gave them a brief overview of the year ahead and what it would entail.

Ms. Anubha Kakroo, Dean – Outreach, and Corporate Relations, extended vote of thanks to all dignitaries and IIAD members for their presence and contribution in making this ceremony memorable.
