Indian Institute of Management Tiruchirappalli Inaugurates 3rd Batch of the Executive Program in Leadership and Change Management (EPLCM)

Indian Institute of Management Tiruchirappalli inaugurated its 3rd batch of the EPLCM program on 11th March 2023. Shri Sandeep Sinha, Chief Executive Officer, TAFE Ltd, graced the event as the chief guest. Ms. Swati Gautam and Mr. Gopi Thangavel, alumni of EPLCM Program, Prof. Abhishek Totawar and Prof. Vijaya, Program Directors of EPLCM, and Dr. P. Saravanan, Dean Corporate Relations and Faculty Affairs were also present in the inauguration.

 

In his address, the Chief Guest, Shri Sandeep Sinha, mentioned how leadership is the most written-about subject in the corporate world. He further pointed out the importance of self-belief to become a leader. He also emphasized that good leaders must be fearless and not afraid of making bold decisions. He stated that as a leader, we must understand that respect is not an entitlement but something that has to be earned. He concluded by saying that as leaders, we must identify the detractors, understand them, coach them, and allow them to join the bandwagon. However, if they cannot do so, it is equally important for a leader to trim the noise and focus on taking the team forward.

 

Ms. Swati Gautam spoke about the course and how putting learnings into a framework helps deploy decisions in a more organized and controlled fashion. She further appreciated how the course had been structured and how helpful this course has been for her career. Mr. Gopi Thangavel mentioned that it is most important to keep family involved in the learning process as this course is intensive and requires nine months of participants’ time. He also emphasised that the learnings from the course can be applied in the organization, and a clear difference in the leadership style becomes evident.

 

Prof. Abhishek Totawar, in his welcome address, introduced the course and how the course was conceptualized. The course mainly focuses on understanding how organizations evolve, transform, and change. He talked about how leaders are at the focal point of this change and how their understanding of transformation and change is critical in determining the success of the transformation process. Talking about batch diversity, he mentioned that 28% of the batch consists of female participants, and 52% already hold postgraduate degrees. The batch also has an average work experience of 13.7 years.

 

Dr. P Saravanan briefly discussed the importance of executive education and consulting. He listed the various programs offered by IIM Tiruchirappalli’s on the executive education front. He extended a very warm welcome to all participants.

 

Prof. Vijaya concluded the event by thanking all the dignitaries for their presence and the speakers for their profound insights. The National Anthem followed the Vote of Thanks.
