International Girl Child Day celebrated at Bandipora

Bandipora: To sensitize masses regarding the importance of girl child, a daylong awareness programme was organized here to celebrate international Girl Child Day, 2020.
The programme was presided over by District Development Commissioner (DDC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad.
On the occasion, the DDC stressed on the role and importance of female folk in the society and said that the girls who have achieved success in various fields of life must act as ambassadors to guide other girls to utilize their potential in a proper way. Dr Owais said, girls are important stakeholders of society and it is our collective responsibility to take care of girl child for the empowerment of women and added that a woman plays a key role in harmonizing and strengthening social relations and bonds. He said that we should adopt multi pronged strategies for upliftment of women folk.
He also announced establishment of a separate Women Helpline at Mini Secretariat Bandipora for the aggrieved women folk which shall be handled by women only.
While speaking on the occasion the ADC Bandipora Zahoor Ahmad Mir highlighted the objectives of the programme and said we must encourage girls for socio-economic and political development of society.
He said that the girls are important stakeholders of society and it is our collective responsibility to take care of their needs and empowerment.
On the occasion DDC provided cash prize to seven girls who contributed their research articles for the Research Journal Parvaaz 2020 published by Mahila Shakti Kendra Bandipora.
Among others, Additional Deputy Commissioner Zahoor Ahmad Mir, Joint Director Planning Imtiyaz Ahmad, District Information Officer Jahangeer Akhoon, District Social Welfare Officer, Coordinator BBBP, and Coordinator Mahila Shakti Kendra besides the frontline workers from ICDS and Health department and female students of different educational institutions were present during the event.
