International Happiness Day : DSEJ hosts online penal discussion
Jammu: Acknowledging the motto of International Happiness Day and the theme for the year 2021- ‘Happiness For All, Forever’, Directorate of School Education Jammu, through its Counselling Cell organised an online Panel Discussion on International Day of Happiness with H.R. Pakhroo, Joint Director, DSEJ, as the chief guest and Dr. Geetanjali Kumar, Practicing Counsellor, Trainer, Motivational speaker and Shria Abrol, RCI Child counsellor as the Resource Persons.
Over 5000 stakeholders were sensitized about the different components of happiness and how to spread happiness among school students.
The webinar was conducted using ICT LABS in High and Higher Secondary Schools of all the 10 districts of Jammu Division.
Pertinent to mention here that Counselling cell also conducted a survey on the reasons for happy and unhappy situations for students in the schools. An Advisory revolving around Tips for Happiness was also issued.
In addition, Laughter Therapy exercises were also conducted in all the schools of Jammu Division participating in the initiative.
“We must appreciate others if we really want to spread happiness. Always love your near ones. Never hate anyone. Enjoy every moment of your life”, said H. R. Pakhroo, Joint Director, DSEJ.
Romesh Sharma, Head Counselling Cell DSEJ asked the Faculty Counsellors to incorporate happiness activities in daily routine to make it sustainable.
Dr. Geetanjali Kumar, motivational speaker enthralled the participants with her valuable suggestions and introduced everyone to different components of happiness and their importance in our day today life. She also enlightened the audience with the concept of Happy Curriculum suggesting activities like candid clicks, birthday plants, pat on back, painting etc. to be incorporated in school curriculum to make students happy.
Shria Abrol, RCI Child Counsellor talked about reasons for unhappiness among children. She pointed out the signs of unhappiness and also discussed the different ways to overcome them. She emphasised on ‘Glad Game’, ‘Tiffin sharing’ etc. to help them overcome their unhappiness.
D. Alka Sharma while moderating the proceedings of the panel discussion said that a smile on the face of a teacher can erase so many worries of the children. Every teacher must enter the class on a positive note, leaving behind all tensions.
Dr. Surinder Sharma, Counsellor Shanti Saroop Sharma and Manan Mahajan, Team Member Counselling Cell DSEJ helped in its smooth conduct. Ms. Preeti Sharma presented formal vote of thanks.
