International sensations delight audiences at the second evening of Jaipur Music Stage 2020

After an exciting day of conversations at the ZEE Jaipur Literature Festival on Friday, the Jaipur Music Stage featured performances by poet and jazz vocalist Lisa Marie Simmons from USA and Dublin-based Gavin James, one of Europe’s foremost singer-songwriters.

The Jaipur Music Stage brings to the Pink City the best musical acts from India and around the world and runs from Jan 23-Jan 25 at the Clarks Amer.

A celebration of the world of music, the Jaipur Music Stage on day 2 showcased meolodies and artistes from across the globe. Bringing to the people of Jaipur a mix of Indian and internationals artistes, the Jaipur Music Stage (JMS) runs parallel the ‘greatest literary show on Earth’ and is the perfect place to explore new sounds and unwind after a day at the literary extravaganza.

The evening began with the soothing voice of poet and jazz vocalist Lisa Marie Simmons. Simmons performed with her jazz ensemble, NoteSpeak that she leads with keyboardist, arranger and songwriter Marco Cremaschini. With a unique blend of jazz and electronic sounds, her and the band brought the stage alive with what she best describes as “poppy-jazz”. Speaking about her performance, she said, “It’s a humongous and enormous pleasure for us to be performing at this platform. I’m happy to be associated with something that tries to unite the world through music, and Jaipur Music Stage’s dedication to that is commendable.”

From the peppy fusion of words and music, the evening slid into a power-packed performance by Gavin James. Dublin-based singer-songwriter, James was Spotify’s spotlight artiste and has toured with musicians such as Ed Sheeran and Sam Smith in the past. For his first-ever performance in India, the singer enthralled the audiences with his melodious voice and heartfelt lyrics, making it truly a night to remember.

As people flocked to the lawns of Hotel Clarks Amer, they were greeted by an array of pop-up shops at the Night Bazaar. On display were goodies ranging from jewellery and textiles to a specially curated Farmer’s Market offering delicious and fresh treats.

The audience was spoilt for choice at the Jaipur Music Stage with scrumptious food, pop-up shops and stellar performances. Over the last few years the Jaipur Music Stage has become a landmark destination for music afficianados, and the finale on Saturday, 25th January promises an exciting celebration of the diversity of Indian music, featuring Aabha Hanjura and Parvaaz.
