IWGM 2021 to publish AMU case study
Aligarh: Numerous initiatives in favour of the environment to reduce the carbon footprint and thus help combat global climate change have been immensely implemented at the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) campus.
And now a case study, ‘Decarbonising the Aligarh Muslim University Campus: An Experimental Analysis of Initiatives, their Impact and Lessons Learned’ by Prof Mohd Rihan (Convener, Green University Project Committee) has been accepted for publication in the proceedings of the ‘7th International (Virtual) Workshop on UI Green Metric World University Rankings (IWGM 2021)’ on the theme, ‘Universities, UI GreenMetric, and SDGs in the Time of the Pandemic’.
Prof Rihan also presented the case study/ paper in a session on ‘Issues and Innovation for Energy and Climate Change Management in Universities in the Time of the Pandemic’ during the Workshop.
“In the presentation, I have highlighted that AMU has been pursuing adoption of green electricity and energy conservation for reducing carbon footprints and the successful implementation of our green projects at AMU has inspired other academic institutions. AMU has also adopted energy efficiency as a policy and ensured participation of stakeholders in promotion of energy conservation,” said Prof Rihan.
He added: “In the conference only papers authored by rectors, vice rectors, vice chancellors and professor in-charges of universities were presented.” said Prof Rihan.
