IX International Symposium on Statistics and Optimization inaugurated

 

Aligarh, October 28: A two-day IX International Symposium on Statistics and Optimization commenced at the Department of Statistics and Operations Research, Aligarh Muslim University, on October 28. The symposium was inaugurated by AMU Vice Chancellor Prof. Mohammad Gulrez, in which witnessed more than 140 researchers from India and abroad will be participating.

During his presidential address, the Vice-Chancellor stressed the pivotal role of statistics and optimization in real-life decision-making. He emphasized the increasing relevance of these fields in today’s world.

The keynote speaker, Prof. Shalabh from IIT Kanpur, highlighted the evolution of statistics into the realm of data science and the significant progress made globally over the last few years.

Prof. Aquil Ahmad, Chairperson of the Department of Statistics and Operations Research, explained that the symposium’s aim is to serve as a platform for in-depth discussions on topics related to statistics and operations research.

Prof. Qazi Mazhar Ali former Chairman of the department was also felicitated on the occasion.

Notably, the symposium features renowned invited speakers, including Prof. Anis REZGUI from INSAT Carthage University, Tunisia, Prof. Andrei Volodin from the University of Regina, Canada, Prof. Mohammad Ahsanullah, Prof. Emeritus at Rider University, U.S.A., Prof. B. M. Golam Kibria from Florida International University, U.S.A., Prof. Oscar Castillo from the Tijuana Institute of Technology, Mexico, Prof. T.S Arthanari from The University of Auckland, New Zealand, Prof. Vincent Charles from Queen’s University Belfast, United Kingdom, and Prof. Biswajit Sarkar from Yonsei University, South Korea.

The proceedings was conducted by Dr Faiz Noor Kahn Yusufi who said this symposium, is in hybrid-mode and promises to be an enriching platform for knowledge exchange and exploration.
