JAIN (Deemed-to-be University) & Ministry of Higher Education (Republic of Maldives) Sign MoU

 With the mission of promoting and outspreading higher education to Maldivian students, JAIN (Deemed-to-be University) and the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) – Government of the Republic of the Maldives, on Tuesday, 12th July 2022, signed an MoU. The international collaboration aims at offering Chancellor’s Scholarship and JGI Aid Fund Scholarship Programs to the students of Maldives.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Dr. Chenraj Roychand (Founder Chairman of the JAIN Group and Chancellor – JAIN (Deemed-to-be University)). Signed by Prof. NVH Krishnan (Registrar) and witnessed by Dr. Easwaran Iyer (Pro Vice Chancellor) on behalf of JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), the MoU’s other party’s delegates included Dr. Ibrahim Hassan (Minister of Higher Education) and Ms. Aisha Hikmath (Director General – Ministry of Higher Education) representing the Republic of Maldives.

Dr. Hassan thanked JAIN for showing “Why thinking out of the box matters!” In the context of the MoU, he further stated that “It is one way for us to recruit and identify the best potential students. We need the new vision and ideas for new hopes as the old ones won’t’ work!”

According to the MoU, MoHE (Ministry of Higher Education of the Republic of the Maldives) shall identify & select deserving students based on predetermined criteria set by JAIN whereas JAIN will approve the candidates recommended by MoHE. As per the memorandum, JAIN would be proposing scholarships in the following categories:

  • JU Fully Funded Scholarship in B.Tech Program for 5 Candidates
  • Scholarship in Ph.D Program(Public Policy & Governance) for 1  Candidate
  • JU Chancellors Scholarship Scheme to 250 Students for UG & PG Programs 
  • JAIN Aid Fund Scholarship Scheme: 250 Scholarship Seats for Programs 

The MoU that was signed at JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), CMS Business School, Sheshadri Road Campus doesn’t only encourage scholarship programs for Maldivian students but also opens better opportunities for exploring certification programs and more. The mutual agreement further strengthens the partnership between JAIN (Deemed-to-be University) and MoHE.
