Jharkhand Yuva Sangam student representatives learns about the industrial, cultural and literary aspects of Punjab during their exposure trip to Punjab
- On the fourth day of their Punjab Visit, Jharkhand Youth delegates visited HMEL Guru Gobind Singh Refinery and paid obeisance at Takht Sri Damdama Sahib
Bathinda : The 51-member Yuva Sangam Jharkhand representatives, who are on a week-long educational and cultural exposure tour from Jharkhand to Punjab (9-14 March, 2024), managed by Central University of Punjab, enhanced their knowledge about the industrial, cultural and literary aspects of Punjab.
After visiting iconic locations in Bathinda, Firozpur, and Amritsar, on the fourth day of the visit, their journey reached its pinnacle with visits to HMEL’s Guru Gobind Singh Refinery and Takht Sri Damdama Sahib.
The Day 4 of the Punjab Exposure Tour saw the enthusiastic Jharkhand contingent stepping into the realm of technology and innovation at HMEL’s Guru Gobind Singh Refinery in Bathinda. This cutting-edge refinery, boasting a capacity of 11.3 million metric tonnes per annum (MMTPA), is renowned for its energy efficiency and high distillate yield, meeting the demands of the market for petroleum and energy products. Mr. Vikas Mehta, HR Manager, and Er. Ravi Deshwal, Health Safety, and Environment Manager, provided valuable insights into the refinery’s operations, leaving the students captivated by the intricate process of petroleum production.
Continuing their quest for knowledge and spiritual enlightenment, the delegates paid obeisance at Takht Sri Damdama Sahib in Talwandi Sabo. Here, they learned about the historical significance of this sacred site. The Takht Sri Damdama Sahib, where Guru Gobind Singh finalized the compilation of the holy Sikh scripture Sri Guru Granth Sahib, stands as a beacon of spiritual learning and education. The visit offered the young minds from Jharkhand profound insights into the ethos of Sikhism and the enduring legacy of its revered Gurus.
In the evening, the Jharkhand Youth delegates proudly displayed their folklore in traditional attire at CU Punjab campus, immersing themselves in the rich culture of Punjab. Hosted by CUPB students, the cultural exchange event provided an opportunity to delve deeper into the essence of Punjab’s heritage. Amidst the melodies of Punjab’s folk tunes and the beats of traditional dances, the visiting delegates showcased the rich cultural tapestry of Jharkhand, bridging the gap between two distinct yet harmonious cultures.
In this amalgamation of learning and celebration, the Yuva Sangam Jharkhand contingent not only broadened their horizons but also formed enduring bonds of friendship and understanding with the people of Punjab, embodying the spirit of unity in diversity.
