J&K AACL commemorates National Authors Day in Jammu

JAMMU : On the eve of National Authors Day 2022, the Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture, and Languages (AACL), under the guidance of Bharat Singh, Secretary (AACL), organised a Multilingual Mushaira here at K.L. Saigal Hall.

The event witnessed participation of a multitude of eminent and celebrated poets of the regional languages of Jammu & Kashmir.

At the outset, in his welcome address, on behalf of the Secretary (AACL), Dr Shahnawaz, Cultural Officer cum Assistant Editor (Gojri) at AACL, thanked the august gathering for their support and Secretary (AACL) for his invaluable guidance. The proceedings of the event were conducted by Prof Yashpal Nirmal, Assistant Editor (Dogri) at AACL.

The inaugural session was presided over by Pritpal Singh Betaab, a renowned Urdu poet and an Ex-IAS Officer.

In his presidential address, Pritpal Singh appreciated the efforts put in by the entire team of AACL for organising the event.

Prof Shalini Rana, Head of the English Department at Government Degree College Canal Road, acknowledged the unprecedented event organised by the AACL to commemorate National Authors Day.

Prem Nath Shad, a renowned Kashmiri Poet, too, was the Guest of Honour at the event.

The key dignitaries who graced the event with their poetic recitals included the likes of Ahmed Shanas, an Urdu poet and a retired Officer; Pyasa Anjum, a renowned Punjabi poet; Prof Vijaya Thakur, an established Dogri poet; Baljeet Singh Raina, an acclaimed Punjabi poet; Keval Krishan Keval, a celebrated Dogri poet; Naseem Akhtar, a renowned Gojri poet; Dolly Tickoo, a well-known Kashmiri poet; Swami Anter Neerav, a prominent Pahari poet; Aruna Sharma, a famed Hindi poet; Toyuib Raza Geelani, a distinguished Gojri poet; and Sanjeev Bhasin, an esteemed Hindi poet.

The remarkable mushaira culminated with a vote of thanks by Dr Rattan Bashotra, Editor (Dogri) at AACL. AACL’s effort in promoting the culture is receiving praise from the art and culture connoisseurs of the region.
