Justice Mr. M.M.Sundresh – Judge Supreme Court of India presided, the Foundation Stone laying ceremony for “Loyola Shyam Kothari Centenary Building” which will house nearly 6,000 students with a total outlay of Rs.40 Crores

Chennai : LOYOLA COLLEGE founded by the Society of Jesus in 1925 will complete a century of Academic Service in 2025, with the primary objective of providing University Education to deserving students irrespective of caste and creed. Loyola College Motto is “LUCEAT LUX VESTRA” meaning “LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE”.

 

Some of the illustrious alumni of this College starting with the Former President of India Mr. Venkataraman, Our Chief Guest for the day Hon’ble Justice Mr. M.M.Sundresh, Guest of Honour Hon’ble Justice Mr. J. Chelameswar, Alumni who is being honoured today Late. Shri. Shyam Kothari (Kothari Sugars and Chemicals Limited) Our past president of LAA and Shri. Viswanathan, Chancellor of Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) – current President of LAA and many more world renowned Alumni like Mr.N.Ram – Editor of Hindu, Mr.Vijay Amritraj – Renowned tennis player, Mr.Viswanathan Anand – World Chess Champion etc.

Now Loyola is preparing itself for meeting the needs of the growing student population by laying the Foundation Stone for the Loyola Shyam Kothari Centenary Building which will be housing the “School of Liberal Arts”.

The College Management has chosen to recognize the efforts of the longest serving Alumni President in whose name the building will be erected. In honour of his service as the President of the Loyola Alumni Association for more than a decade and the support given to the College in his personal capacity, the College would like to dedicate this building as “Loyola Shyam Kothari Centenary Building”.

Loyola also unveiled the “LOYOLA CENTENARY LOGO” with the tagline “Where great minds come together”.  The burning torch in the Logo represents the Knowledge and Searching for Enlightenment as well as the Students who are the beacons of Lights of Hope and Liberation to Others.

Today we have gathered here to announce that Loyola will leave no stone unturned to make the campus the profound destination for every aspiring student. LOYOLA SHYAM KOTHARI CENTENARY BUILDING will comprise of the Grand Centenary Hall with 500 seating capacity, 3 halls with 200 seating capacity each and 66 Gallery Class Rooms which will house nearly 6,000 students with a total outlay of Rs.40 crs.
