Kidney Week inaugurated at Paramedical College, AMU

Aligarh : The Nephrology Division, Department of Medicine and Paramedical College, Faculty of Medicine, Aligarh Muslim University organised the Kidney Week on the occasion of World Kidney Day 2024. The week-long celebration consisting of poster competition, skit, quiz competition and awareness walk will culminate with a prize distribution ceremony on 14th March.

During the inaugural function at the Paramedical College, Dr Mohd Aslam, Professor and Incharge, Nephrology Division talked about the dialysis course and how it evolved from Diploma to an undergraduate course. He also discussed the role of Dialysis therapist and the health of the kidney for all.

Dr Saif Quaisar, Assistant Professor, Department of Medicine discussed the theme of this year’s World Kidney Day ‘equitable access to care and optimal medication practices’, and its relevance for general public and healthcare professionals.

Prof Ibne Ahmad, Principal, Paramedical College urged upon the students to understand the significance of their role in this journey that will directly impact the lives of countless individuals in need. He also acknowledged the valuable support of the Nephrology division of the Department of Medicine.

Prof Veena Maheshwari, Dean, Faculty of Medicine, and Principal & CMS, JNMCH, AMU said that the kidney is an important part of the body and the number of kidney disease patients has risen, which should be a cause of concern.

Prof Maheshwari also inaugurated the Dialysis Lab in the Paramedical College.

Dr Aamir Husain, Assistant Professor, Department of Medicine extended the vote of thanks.

Prof.Mazhar Abbas, Prof. Adeeb Alam, Prof. Amir Bin Sabir, Prof. Azam Haseen, Prof. Farah Azmi, Dr. Husaini S Haider Mehedi, Dr. MohdAamir, Dr. Nusra Rahman, Dr. Mohsin Aijaz, Dr.Wasil Hasan, Dr. Anuradha, Ms. Saima Ahsan, Ms. Aatika Khan, Dr. Mohd Arfat and Mr. Gufran Jaleel and students of B.Sc. in Dialysis Therapy Technology attended the programme.

Earlier, Ms. Insha Firoz, Assistant Professor, Paramedical College welcomed the guests and presented an overview of the programme.
