KMOU: Leading the development of advanced maritime ICT convergence talents with Busan City
Our university, the Ministry of Trade , Industry and Energy , Busan City, and local educational institutions are promoting a project to nurture professional talent in the field of maritime ICT convergence in earnest .
As part of the Busan National Innovation Cluster project, our university hosted three participating institutions (Dongseo University, Tongmyong University , Busan Institute for Industry – University Convergence ), five educational cooperation institutions ( Busan National University of Science and Technology , Busan Software Meister High School , Busan Technical High School , Gyeongnam Technical High School , and Haeundae Technical High School ) signed a business agreement to foster ‘ maritime ICT industry hyperformer-type full-cycle talent ‘ .
This project aims to foster and secure maritime ICT convergence experts needed by maritime specialized companies in Busan in the era of the 4th industrial revolution .
In particular, our university is evaluated as the best educational institution that can converge various maritime technologies with the latest artificial intelligence and ICT technologies as an educational institution specialized in marine specialization .
The Department of Artificial Intelligence Engineering develops specialized maritime ICT convergence curriculum that can utilize the latest maritime digital technologies and artificial intelligence technologies such as smart ships, navigation, autonomous ships, and maritime cyber security, and high – quality master ‘s and doctoral manpower including undergraduate students and master’s and doctoral students . We plan to carry out training .
In addition , it plans to derive industry-university research projects that can solve the difficulties of companies and operate a contract lab jointly conducted by professors, students , and companies .
Professor Lee Gwang-il of the Department of Artificial Intelligence Engineering, who is conducting this project, said, “ We are intensively fostering field-oriented experts who can converge the latest artificial intelligence technology, ICT technology and maritime technology in the form required by the industrial field, while Busan Techno Park Together with the Busan National Innovation Convergence Promotion Agency, we will build a foundation to establish itself as a mecca for global maritime ICT education and industry , such as holding a global maritime ICT forum . ”
Through this project, it is expected that it will greatly contribute to the establishment of a marine ICT ecosystem for fostering Busan-centered marine ICT experts and developing the local marine industry .
