Korea Maritime & Ocean University hosts 4th private-led carbon reduction forum
The ‘ Anthropocene ‘ , which warns of a reversal in the relationship between nature and humans, is not unfamiliar , and one of the current issues, ‘ Carbon Zero and Reduction ‘ , is a hot topic, and experts in related fields are coming up with carbon reduction plans for ‘ realization of carbon neutrality by 2050 ‘ . A place to discuss is set up .
Our university and the SDX Foundation ( Chairman Jeon Ha-jin ) will jointly hold the ‘ 4th Private-led Carbon Reduction Forum ‘ for carbon reduction in the port and shipping sector at our university on the 14th . The organizers were the International Maritime Research Institute, the International Logistics Agency , and the Carbon Reduction Forum led by the private sector .
On this day, the forum is divided into parts 1 and 2. The theme of part 1 is ‘ smart port and shipping ‘ and part 2 is ‘ financial support and investment attraction for carbon neutrality ‘ .
▲ For part 1 , German Ambassador to Korea Michael Reiffenstuel (HE) will give a keynote speech on ‘ the current status of Germany’s response to carbon neutrality ‘ .
Following this, Professor Lee Seo-jeong of Korea Maritime and Ocean University will present ‘ International Maritime Organization Carbon Reduction Policy Trend and Smart Technology-Based Response ‘ , and Korea Maritime and Ocean Equipment Research Institute Director Bae Jeong-cheol will present ‘ Eco-friendly Ship Equipment Development Trend ‘ . In addition, Kim Dae-heon, head of Korea Register of Shipping’s Research Division , will continue his presentation on ‘ the maritime industry that needs to change ‘ , and Ryu Young- soo, head of HMM , on ‘ the current status of greenhouse gas regulation and response trends in international shipping ‘ .
▲ In Part 2, Park Hee-chun, CEO of Mirae Tech, presents ‘ Carbon neutrality in the energy sector , it will fail again if only economic feasibility is considered ‘ , and Ahn Uk-sang, director of KDB Korea Development Bank, announces ‘ The role of finance for carbon neutrality ‘ .
Following this, Kim Kyung-soo, director of the Busan Research Institute, will present ‘ Attraction of Carbon Neutral-Based Expo and Revolution ‘ , and SDX Foundation Director Lee Han-soo will present ‘ Carbon Reduction and Investment Attraction of Climate Technology Companies and Global Growth Strategy ‘ .
▲ Part 3 was chaired by Jeong Mun-soo, director of the Korea Maritime and Ocean University’s International Maritime Research Institute, and Ryu Dong-geun, head of international logistics business, Arne Kueper, economics counselor at the German Embassy, Kwon Hae-ryong , advisor to Ocean Global Star, and Min Eun-joo, secretary general of the Busan Environmental Movement Association . · We plan to hold discussions on behalf of businesses and civic groups .
The 4th private sector-led carbon reduction forum is expected to be a forum for public, private, industry, and academic experts to discuss carbon reduction together, as well as to discuss ways to activate carbon reduction on a regional basis .

Meanwhile, this event will be held as part of the 2022 National University Development Project that our university is carrying out .
