On October 26 an MOU was signed between Korea University and the University of Basel in Switzerland with the aim of enabling comprehensive cooperation between the two that spans the fields of medicine, bioengineering, and student exchanges.

It is believed that the MOU will boost exchanges on the part of biomedical researchers and start-ups between the two schools, and lay the foundation for enhanced industry-university-research cooperation in biomedicine through technology transfers, joint research, and student exchanges. This MOU is part of the exchange and cooperation project in the bio-medical field between Basel, Switzerland, a mecca of bio-industries, and Seoul.

KU Vice President for International Affairs Lee Hi-kyoung said, “It is very significant that Korea University is participating in the project as a leader in the Korean biomedical cluster. Besides research cooperation in the bio and medical fields, we also expect that student exchanges with the University of Basel will take place in other disciplines, for instance the Department of English Language and Literature.” A commemorative video conveying its significance was played, which excited and inspired the attendees.
