New Delhi : IntelliSmart Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd., India’s leading smart metering and digital solutions company, today unveiled the third edition of its flagship innovation challenge and hackathon INSTINCT. Hon’ble Minister of Power and New & Renewable Energy Shri R K Singh launched INSTINCT 3.0 through a curtain raiser at the plenary session of the National Dialogue on ‘Smart-Metered India for a Digitalised & People-centric Power Sector’, jointly organised by IntelliSmart and the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW).

Speaking about the launch, Mr. Anil Rawal, MD & CEO, IntelliSmart said, “We take pride in the fact that in a short span of time, INSTINCT has become an innovation hotbed of the power distribution sector in general and specifically for smart metering industry, widely regarded by the innovation community of the country as the flagship Hackathon. Our endeavour is to provide a platform to the great innovative minds and budding ideas. We have already incubated some of the winning ideas of the previous editions of INSTINCT for mass-scale commercialisation.”

INSTINCT, the annual innovation challenge & hackathon by IntelliSmart, has become a breeding ground for innovative ideas and breakthrough solutions for the power distribution sector. Since its inception, INSTINCT has found widespread uptake with 2665 participants, 2368 students, more than 900 colleges, 81 startups, 184 professionals and 145 incubation centres engaged. The hackathon has given wings to great ideas and its owners a way to realise their full potential in real-world applications.

This year, INSTINCT 3.0 aims to take the possibility of collaboration and partnership for commercialisation to the next level. For IntelliSmart, the goal remains simple: discovering and developing ground-breaking ideas into potent game-changing products and solutions that will play a pivotal role in the country’s vision towards digitalisation of the power sector.

INSTINCT 3.0 will focus on specific problem statements that have risen from the real-life on-ground operational application of smart meter projects. These include developing a reliable design solution that will enhance the ability of smart electricity meters to withstand electricity surges up to 10 KV in an operating environment; create a prototype of an energy exchange platform at a peer-to-peer level based on smart meter-enabled aggregated data and blockchain settlement that will allow consumers to sell energy; demonstrate a solution in which the Electricity Smart Meter host/gateway for connecting and managing home appliances, and residential EV chargers, and has the footprint to connect other utility meters. A prize money of Rs 10 lakhs has been allotted for the winning ideas.
