Lectures on ‘Menstrual Health and Hygiene’
Aligarh : A series of online awareness lectures on ‘Menstrual Health and Hygiene’ of the Centre for Distance and Online Education, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) in collaboration with Global Hunt Organization which concluded on December 14 highlighted how hygiene interventions enable women and girls to fulfil the unmet demand for menstrual hygiene products and strengthens their sexual and reproductive health.
Delivering the valedictory lecture, Roshnee Bhowmick (CSR-Initiative of Unicharm, India) said: “The challenges that menstruating females face encompasses more than a basic lack of supplies. While menstruation is a normal part of life, in many societies, this experience of women continues to be constrained by cultural taboos. The resulting lack of information about menstruation leads to unhygienic and unhealthy menstrual practices and creates misconceptions and negative attitudes, which leads to shaming, bullying and even gender-based violence”.
She was explaining the importance of menstrual management for a healthy reproductive system and menstrual cycle.
Dr Nida Fatima, Dr Seema Khan and Seema Parween coordinated the program.
The participating female students were also provided with e-certificates in the valedictory function.
