LETI Hosts Graduation Of Over A Third Of Masters Students
On June 29, LETI hosted a diploma awarding ceremony for graduates of the master’s programs. Before it began, according to the tradition of the First Electrotechnical, the 8 best graduates of all faculties were congratulated by Viktor Sheludko, Rector of LETI, at a tea party.
“Our university is developing confidently and dynamically. We have ambitious plans, and we are doing very well. The time has come for LETI – the specialists we train are in great demand today. The issue of the university’s participation in many state programs and projects is being resolved – LETI is the main participant. We have the skills and good results.
Of course, we are proud of our graduates. Your professional life has just begun, you are in demand and motivated. I am sure you will work successfully and that many of you will return to LETI to improve your skills. We will always be waiting for you, we will be happy to see you. I congratulate you on your graduation, and I congratulate your parents. I wish you peace, goodness, success, and happiness.”
The honoring of the best masters continued in the LETI assembly hall. The university anthem was played at the opening of the diploma awarding ceremony. Sergey Galunin, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, congratulated the best 2023 Masters students.
“You are the pride of our university! It is not easy to study at LETI, we have high requirements for the quality of education. But believe me, your future employers know that a LETI graduate is a top-level specialist, and you will also be proud that you graduated from Saint Petersburg Electrotechnical University “LETI.” I wish you to find the job you love and reach the pinnacles of your career and for your children and grandchildren to study at LETI too. Godspeed!”
Sergey Galunin, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs at LETI
The best graduates of the 2023 master’s programs were Tatiana Samsonova (Faculty of Radio Engineering), Nikolay Ovsyannikov (Faculty of Electronics), Ksenia Gavrilova (Faculty of Computer Science and Technology), Ruslan Migranov (Faculty of Industrial Automation and Electrical Engineering), Anastasia Ryzhaya (Faculty of Information Measurement and Biotechnical Systems), Svetlana Barabanova (INPROTECH) and Anna Nikiforova (Faculty of Humanities).
Rasika Pothupitiya, a graduate of the Faculty of Industrial Automation and Electrical Engineering, who graduated with a red diploma, became the best international master’s student in 2023. He has distinguished himself in scientific and social activities at the university. Rasika Pothupitiya is the winner of the scientific and practical conference “Science of Present and Future,” participant in social projects “Social and Communicative Development of Preschool Children in the Game,” “We Are Different, but We Are Together!”, “Way of Victory” race, and a member of LETI international students’ activists. In 2021, he was recognized as the best international bachelor’s graduate in social activities.
By tradition, the masters took the stage in robes and confederate caps with a tassel, which has a special symbolic meaning: in the Middle Ages, those who were still in training had the tassel on the right side, while the graduates and academicians on the left. The right to move the tassel on a graduate’s confederate from one side to the other was given to the deans – this signaled the transition to a new status for all graduates of the faculty.
