LETI: LETI Held an Armwrestling Competition

The LETI team won four medals in individual standings and took first place in the team competition of the university’s Open Armwrestling Championship.

From April 22 to 23, the Open Armwrestling Championship “LETI Cup” among the students of St. Petersburg universities took place. The event was organized by LETI with the support of the St. Petersburg Armwrestling Federation and the St. Petersburg Committee for Physical Education and Sport.

More than 120 athletes from 24 universities in St. Petersburg took part in the championship. Participants competed in individual and team standings in 10 weight classes. Men wrestled in the classes of 60 kg, 65 kg, 70 kg, 75 kg, 80 kg, 90 kg, and over 90 kg. Female athletes competed in classes of 55 kg, 65 kg, and over 65 kg.

“I really enjoyed the competition. Finally, our university began to hold such events, and there is an opportunity to take part in them. Everything went well; it was a useful experience. Now I know my mistakes and what I still need to work on,” shared her impressions Alena Erofeeva, a third-year student of the Faculty of Electronics at LETI.

LETI students won four individual medals – two gold, silver, and bronze. The best in 65 kg and 70 kg classes were Andrey Dugin, a first-year student of the Faculty of Electronics, and Evgeny Kulik, a fourth-year student of the Faculty of Computer Science and Technology. Dmitry Gerasimov, a 1-year student of the Faculty of Industrial Automation and Electrical Engineering, won the bronze medal in the 90 kg weight class. Alena Erofeeva, a 3-year student of the Faculty of Electronics, took second place among girls in the weight class over 65 kg.

“I’m glad I was able to take the prize despite my hand injury. I liked the event organization and the judging. LETI brought together people who live armwrestling”.
