LETI: Presenting Research for the First Time at the Youth Conference at LETI

From January 25 to 28, the eighth сonference of Russian young researchers in electrical and electronic engineering 2022 ElConRus took place at LETI remotely. The event was held under the auspices and with the support of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).

The main conference goal is to introduce young researchers to the global scientific community, compare achievements in Russian and international universities in electrical and electronic engineering, computer engineering, biomedical technology, and other industries, and exchange views on the most topical issues.

The event was opened with a greeting speech by Viktor Sheludko, Chair of the IEEE Russia North-West Section and Rector of LETI.

“This year’s conference will bring together students and young specialists who are engaged in R&D projects in electrical and electronic engineering. We hope that the event will be a good platform to discuss issues that young engineers have.”

Viktor Sheludko, Rector of LETI
Viktor Tupik, Vice-Rector for Research at LETI, noted in his speech: “Many research and educational activities, conducted under the auspices of the IEEE, are aimed at training a new generation of engineers. We are glad that the limitations caused by the pandemic have not affected interest in our conference. Its topics cover important areas for the business community and country. I am sure we will get a lot of useful information at the conference, and someone will find interesting ideas and partners.”

The breakout sessions included 12 thematic blocks with 398 presentations on broadband communication, signal analysis and processing, computer engineering, information security, control systems, micro- and nanoelectronics, photonics, power electronics, power, biomedical, and environmental engineering, innovation management, and other areas.

138 of the papers presented at the conference were authored or co-authored by young LETI scientists.

Over 1000 young researchers from Russia, Belarus, China, Vietnam, Myanmar, Turkey, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Syria, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan authored the papers. For many of them, the ElConRus was their first experience of presenting their research.

“Every year, young scientists become more and more accustomed to the strict IEEE rules concerning the quality of publications, so the level of presentations at ElConRus is steadily increasing. It is a pity that the conference was held remotely, but we coped with all technical difficulties and successfully held all 12 sections. Young scientists of LETI presented many interesting articles on specific developments.

ElConRus conference is well known in Russia and abroad, that is why at the end of summer we receive letters with questions if we plan to hold it and when it is possible to submit papers. Undoubtedly, next year the conference will take place, but what format it will be in, it is impossible to predict now”.

The EIConRus conference was organized in full compliance with IEEE international rules. The conference participants got access to the cloud repository with the program and the collection of papers. Conference proceedings will be published in the IEEE Xplore Digital Library with the possible further indexing in SCOPUS.
