LETI: Students from 26 Сountries are Ready to Study in LETI’s Russian-Taugth Programs
LETI held a ceremony where representatives of international departments of the university awarded certificates to graduates of the Preparatory Department for International Students and German language courses of LETI, as well as congratulated international bachelor’s and master’s programs graduates.
Alexandra Kilina, Head of the Preparatory Department for International Students, praised the students who prepared for a year to enter the educational programs at the university for their efforts.
“Every year, I tell the graduates of the Preparatory Department what a brave thing it is to come to study in another country. Now, I would like to say that this year, you not only decided to take such a serious step when the borders were closed but also went all the way to the moment of receiving a certificate. I wish you not to stop there and continue your educational path in Russian universities!”

Alexandra presented certificates to the best graduates of the program. A total of 87 students from 26 countries – from Finland and Montenegro to Sri Lanka, from Peru and Colombia to Vietnam – studied in the Preparatory Department in 2022.
The best graduates shared their impressions of their studies at the Preparatory Department of LETI.
“I’m so happy because I lived a year with a new language and new culture. And I love Russia and St. Petersburg so much! Now, I know a lot of things about Russia. The classes were great – our teachers helped us not only with language but also with understanding the culture. They told us about different places in Russia and how people actually live here.”

As part of the event, Anastasia Minina, Vice-Rector for International Affairs at LETI, congratulated all international graduates in 2022 and awarded the three best masters.
Ba Mahel Abduljabbar Salem Saeed Seror created media content in Arabic to promote LETI abroad, participated in scientific conferences, and published articles. He is the winner of the OpenDoors Olympiad and has a government-funded place for postgraduate studies.
Dimitris Palogiannidis participated in international conferences and won the LETI Student of the Year 2022 competition in the category “Best International Student” and the Vladimir Potanin scholarship.
Sultan Shakhrukh was a participant in the International Symposium on Intelligent Distributed Computing and the Universal Student 2030 event, a volunteer, and a member of the university’s international student activist group.
A total of 122 international students from 28 countries graduated from LETI this year. Most graduates came from Kazakhstan and Belarus – 30 and 22, respectively. The largest groups of master’s students from far abroad are 17 Chinese citizens and 7 students from Algeria.
Renat Yalyshev, Head of the International Student Office of LETI, urged the students to thank their teachers who helped them understand the most difficult aspects of the Russian language and advised them to practice more. He congratulated the two top undergraduate graduates.
Yaseer Buruji Ibrahim supervised the community of Nigerian students at LETI, created media content about LETI in English, and was a member of the university’s international student activist group.
Banza Jeremy Tshitundu participated in many cultural events of the university and the city, played on the KVN team of the Faculty of Radio Engineering, participated in mini-football competitions, and supervised the community of students from Congo.
In 2022, 243 international students from 20 countries became bachelors at LETI. 96 of them came to study from Kazakhstan, 66 – from Belarus. Among international students from far abroad, 44 graduates from China and five from Angola and Nigeria each received a diploma.
Graduation certificates from German language courses organized by LETI in conjoint with the German partner university, TU of Ilmenau, were awarded during the ceremony. The certificate of completion of the courses allows students to continue their studies at the TU of Ilmenau under the double degree program within the “Russian-German Engineering Faculty” project, which has been implemented since 2012.
