LIBA celebrates 37th Annual Convocation Day

Chennai: Loyola Institute of Business Administration (LIBA), one of India’s prominent management institutes, conducted its Annual Convocation 2018 on 23rd September 2018. The students were felicitated by Dr. R. Ramaraj, Senior Advisor, Elevar Equity in the presence of parents, faculty and students of LIBA. The 37th convocation also marked the auspicious occasion of the 40th year – Ruby Jubilee of LIBA.

On this day, 263 LIBA students consisting of 123 Full Time Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM), 38 Part Time PGDM students, 1 Doctoral scholar and 101 Executive Postgraduate students including 33 students from Maveric Systems, 28 students from Ford India Pvt. Ltd. and 40 students from Royal Bank of Scotland received their certificate in various disciplines of Business Management. Medals were awarded to academic toppers for their remarkable achievements across different programmes.

During the convocation, prizes for the best summer projects were awarded to Ms. Mannam Sreekshetraja for the project on “Category Strategy Development for Key Commodities and to Mr. K ArunKarthik for the project on “Goods and Services Tax – Implications for the Government and the Industry”.

Addressing the graduates, Dr. R. Ramaraj, Senior Advisor, Elevar Equity said, “According to the economist, one quality that you need to succeed is your ability, attitude and constant learning. The challenge is the attitude of continuous learning, innovation and risk taking.These qualities you should keep in mind as you step into the corporate world. Always take the first step to overcome fear anddo not hesitate to experiment and make small attempts. Keep trying and keep learning, make sure you have a purpose in your work and be grounded in values and ethics, have the spirit of adventure, have fun, do well and be a role model to your juniors.”

Commenting on the convocation, Fr. P. Christie SJ, Director, LIBA said, “LIBA has performed tremendously well during this year and is in the process of attaining International Accreditation. We have started a joint MS programme with Fordham University, NY on Global Finance. Some of the future plans include, constructing a new building and introducing a one year Executive Programme on Healthcare Management in collaboration with CMC Vellore. LIBA has received approval from AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) to increase 60 more seats in the Full Time PGDM programme and it will be implemented in the next academic year.”
