Maddow’s BLOWOUT and Streep-Starring CHARLOTTE’S WEB PRH Audio 2021 GRAMMY® Nominees

New Delhi: Rachel Maddow’s BLOWOUT and a full-cast production of CHARLOTTE’S WEB starring Meryl Streep are nominated for this year’s Best Spoken Word GRAMMY® Album. The respective Random House Audio and Listening Library releases are among the category’s five finalists, announced November 24.

This dual recognition furthers the long, fruitful relationship between voting members of the Recording Academy, which oversees the awards, and Penguin Random House Audio: We have received 47 nominations, with one of our productions winning the Spoken Word GRAMMY® 16 times, most recently earlier this year with Michelle Obama’s BECOMING.

Adapted from the classic tale by E.B. White for generations of readers of all ages, our CHARLOTTE’S WEB production is performed by a distinguished cast of more than 20 audiobook narrators led by Academy Award winner Meryl Streep. The New York Times Book Review said, “Turn off your sound machine. Throw away that blankie. Meryl Streep has bedtime covered tonight…” It is produced by our Audio colleague Kelly Gildea, a Best Spoken Word GRAMMY® multi-nominated producer.

BLOWOUT: Corrupted Democracy, Rogue State Russia, And The Richest, Most Destructive Industry On Earth, a powerful expose of the oil and gas industry, is narrated by author Rachel Maddow, reading from her #1 bestselling Crown hardcover and e-Book, which also appeared on the New York Times Audio bestseller list for three months, rising to number two. “Maddow’s narration elevates the reading experience,” praised Booklist . It was produced by Aaron Blank, also an Audio colleague, and a previous Spoken Word GRAMMY®-winning producer.

Congratulations all around to Rachel Maddow, the CHARLOTTE’S WEB cast, and our gold-standard Audio group, under Amanda D’Acierno.
