MDI Gurgaon hosted a virtual inauguration ceremony for its October 2020 Batch of Post Graduate Diploma in Management

Gurgaon: MDI Gurgaon hosted a virtual inauguration ceremony for its October 2020 Batch of Post Graduate Diploma in Management (Executive Management Programme) on November 01, 2020. The 37th batch of Post Graduate Diploma in Management (Executive Management Programme), a three – year executive programme run in part-time mode, welcomed 31 new Executives and Professionals from diverse corporate fields.

Launched in 1999, the programme Post Graduate Diploma in Management (Executive Management Programme) was designed especially for working executives and entrepreneurs. In addition to filling this gap, the programme approved by AICTE and accredited by AMBA also equips managers for assuming higher responsibilities and enables them to perform more efficiently and effectively in the context of the changing business environment, globally.

Industry stalwarts Shri. Manoj Agarwal, Executive Vice President, Maruti Suzuki India Pvt. Ltd (MSIL), and Shri. Jitender Sachdeva, Group President, Skipper Seil Limited (SSL) presided over as the Guest of Honor and the Chief Guest respectively.

The ceremony started on an auspicious note with the lighting of the lamp followed by a welcome address by Prof. Amit K. Gupta, Chairperson (EMP/NMP) and introductory remarks by Prof. Ajay K. Jain, Dean Executive Graduate Programmes and Consultancy.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Manoj Agarwal, Executive Vice President, Maruti Suzuki India Pvt. Ltd (MSIL) emphasized the role of executive education in building one’s career and supporting an organization’s success. He said, “In an increasingly globalized business world, leaders strive to stay ahead of the competition and bring meaningful changes. Additionally, technology is also changing ways of doing things. Therefore, to keep oneself abreast of this transformation, one needs to be frequently upskilled. This executive education programme will be a great value addition for you all, as it will offer new knowledge to enhance your skills along with a new perspective to look at things.”

 

Subsequently, Mr. Jitender Sachdeva, Group President, Skipper Seil Limited (SSL) spoke about the importance of becoming an effective CEO. He said, “Every organization has different goals and missions, which means the role of a CEO varies from organization to organization. Such programmes are designed to both develop and strengthen business insight and CEO leadership capabilities to execute multiple responsibilities with ease. Executive education is a reward to fill skill gaps, solve persistent business challenges, and strengthen teams.”

Addressing the participants Dr. Pawan Kr. Singh, Director, MDI Gurgaon said, “A modern business executive must be constantly reinventing himself or herself. This is where Executive Management Education plays a critical role. The programme designed will best help executives to address real-world business needs. He concluded his address with a quote “Best leader is the one who is not visible” and emphasized the implementation of best leadership practices to build a great unit. But he emphasized that the statement has deeper connotation and to be understood properly.

 

While speaking to the new batch of participants, Dean – Executive Graduate Programmes, Prof. Ajay K. Jain said, “The programme is an opportunity for you to groom yourself and achieve that competitive edge. It is a great opportunity to work closely with high-caliber participants and challenge each other as well as expand your networking opportunities. The programme exposes you to the latest managerial tools and techniques and will also help in enhancing your analytical and integrative thinking, leadership orientation, and functional competency. He also informed that the programme has a strong alumni base of 1800 alumni working in key management positions in top brands e.g. MSIL, Carrier Air-conditioning, RBS, Sapient, HDFC, ICICI, KPMG, PwC, McKinsey, Hero Moto Corp., Huawei, IKEA, Philips, Samsung, Honda, Denso etc. Further he added that programme developed business entrepreneurship and has produced 7-10% entrepreneurs”

 

The ceremony was attended virtually by incoming participants, faculty members, alumni and staff. The inaugural event concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Amit K. Gupta, Chairperson (EMP/NMP).
