New Delhi : To make this Christmas merry for everyone, Modern Public School, Shalimar Bagh, New Delhi, successfully organised culturally enriching and amusing activities as a part of a week-long celebration. The activities included The Joy Box initiative, Secret Santa Activity and Night Camp.

Through the JoyBox initiative, the students and their parents got a chance to play Santa Claus this Christmas by bringing joy to those who are less fortunate. In order to accomplish this, Modern Public School encouraged all its students to make “Joy Boxes” filled with valuable goods like clothing, soaps, toothbrushes, toothpaste, stationery supplies, toys, blankets, etc. The school later delivered these boxes to Delhi-underprivileged NCR communities.

Alka Kapur, Principal of Modern Public School, spoke about the JoyBox initiative and stated, “One of the nicest things a person can do in their life is to assist a fellow human being in need. By instilling this mindset in our students through our JoyBox programme, we seek to equip them to become forward-thinking citizens who contribute to the growth and prosperity of the country. This initiative will improve the lives of the less affluent and impart an important lesson of compassion to our students.”

In addition to the JoyBox initiative, MPS held a Secret Santa event in which all the students were asked to bring a carefully wrapped present worth Rupees 100 and contribute to the shared pool of gifts. These gifts were kept in the “Happy Zone” of the school, where each student got a chance to grab the gift of their choice from the gift pool. This gift-exchanging experience was indeed also a novel way to celebrate Christmas.

The Annual Night camp was also organised in the school premises for the students of Pre School to Class V.This camp was duly supervised by the school teachers and was a delightful experience for teachers and more than 300 students, who enjoyed the rides and swings, delectable refreshments, and games.

Ms. Alka Kapur continued about the Christmas celebration by saying, “Christmas is a time to give, share, and spread love and warmth. These activities and events assisted us in fostering the ideals of generosity and compassion in our students and helped them become more socially adept. Additionally, the celebratory atmosphere at the school offered our students and teachers an opportunity to unwind themselves from the routine life.”
