MSK Kathua organises awareness Rally on Women Rights
KATHUA : To educate the women folk about their legal rights, Mahila Shakti Kendra, Kathua today organised an awareness Rally here from the DC Office complex.
The rally was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner, Rahul Yadav with huge participation of girls/women. Holding placards with the awareness messages, the rally passed through main bazaars of the town and culminated at Shaheedi Chowk area.
The participants raised slogans highlighting different women centric schemes like Ladli Beti, SMAS, PMVVY, besides the Rights of Women enshrined in the constitution.
NSS Volunteers also presented a skit on the Theme “Acid Attack” .
The Participants included NSS Volunteers from GDC (Boys), Kathua, One Stop Centre /ICPS, Kathua, Supervisors, Anganwadi Workers & Helpers from ICDS, Kathua besides volunteers of NGO Women Era Development and Officials of Mahila Shakti Kendra, Kathua.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner Kathua said the motive behind organising such events was to sensitize women about their rights and enlighten them about the welfare programmes and schemes of the government so as to make them more empowered and aware. “Such events should be made a regular feature to educate maximum women about their rights and opportunities made available by the government for their socio- economic empowerment.
District Social Welfare Officer Kathua Abdul Raheem was also present on the occasion.
