‘Nashe se Azadi Pakhwada’ at Department of Linguistics

Aligarh: Faculty members, students and the non-teaching staff of the Department of Linguistics, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) advocated for a sustained campaign to end the menace of drug abuse with a solemn pledge and other awareness programmes to observe the ‘Nashe se Azadi Pakhwada’ and the ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ in line with the Government of India directives.

 

“It is the need of the hour to raise awareness on the major challenges due to use of illicit drugs. We need to mobilise support and inspire people to act against drug abuse”, said Prof M J Warsi (Chairman, Department of Linguistics).

 

He also spoke on the harms of tobacco consumption and the need to ban tobacco use in and around campuses of all universities.

 

Dr Pallav Vishnu (Programme Convener) administered the pledge.
