National Conference on Robotics and Mechatronics at JMI

New Delhi: A two-day National Conference on the theme ‘Robotics and Mechatronics’- NCORM 2020 was organised by the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Jamia Millia Islamia(JMI) in collaboration with all India Council of Technical Education(AICTE), as part of the university’s centenary celebrations. It was inaugurated on 3rd of March 2020 and was presided over by Prof Ilyas Husain, Pro Vice Chancellor, JMI at the Faculty of Engineering & Technology Auditorium.
The inaugural lecture of the conference was delivered by Prof Dileep N Malkhede, Advisor-1
AICTE, New Delhi. He emphasized on the role of engineers in the technological development of India. He emphasised the need for specialised courses like Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, Nano-technology etc.
Prof Sudipto Mukherjee, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, IIT-Delhi described the different types of robots with their applications and gave an insight on importance of mechatronics.
The Guest of Honour, Mr. Asad Rizvi, GM Maruti Suzuki Ltd., Gurugram, spoke about the need and application of robotics in the automotive sector and appreciated the theme of the conference from industry point of view.
The function was chaired by Prof Emraan Khan, Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering. The inaugural welcome and the conference report was delivered by Prof Mohd Suhaib, the conference chair.
Prof Ibraheem, Dean Faculty of Engineering & Technology was the patron of the conference.
Conference Convenor, Prof Sabah Khan gave a vote of thanks on behalf of herself, her coconvenors, organizing committee, the guests and the participants to the dignitaries for gracing the function by their presence.
The two-day conference had 5 parallel and 2 plenary sessions and had registered a huge
presence of participants from across India with over 80 papers being presented. Some key
sessions include: Mechatronics and its applications, Robotics and its applications, Robotics in biomedical engineering among others.
The conference concluded on 4th March by a valedictory speech by the conference chair Prof Suhaib, followed by the awards for best papers and distribution of certificates by the Chief Guest Prof R A Khan(retd.), Department of Mechanical Engineering, JMI and Guest of Honour SMH Adil, Director GEED Simulations Pvt Ltd.
