New book as a gift to readers from the author
Olga Leonidovna Fetisenko, Doctor of Philology, historian of literature and social thought of the 19th – first half of the 20th centuries, leading researcher of the IRLI RAS, presented Petrozavodsk State University with a valuable book “Kokhanovskaya:” Steppe Flower “of Russian Literature: Texts and Contexts by N. S. Sokhanskaya. – St. Petersburg: Publishing House “Pushkin House”, 2021 “.
The monograph is devoted to the literary and epistolary heritage of Nadezhda Stepanovna Sokhanskaya (1823–1884), known under the pseudonym “Kokhanovskaya”.
Based on a large array of previously unpublished archival materials, the book reveals to the reader in detail the life and work of the talented writer. Almost never leaving her steppe farm, Nadezhda Stepanovna had a broad outlook, wisdom in judgments and a bright temperament that manifested itself in her journalism. The book examines several key episodes of the literary path of Kokhanovskaya, and also gives an idea of the main themes of her artistic work and journalism.
