North-West University: NWU Soccer Institute scouting for new talent

On 3 September the North-West University (NWU) Soccer Institute will be conducting a competition for players under the age of 19 with the aim to discover new talent.

“The soccer institute has been fostering and producing top-tier talent for many years, and we have no intention of stopping now,” says Vuyo Sambo, manager of the institute.

The Soccer Institute will be hosting the event in collaboration with North West Schools Football South Africa, The South African Football Association (SAFA), and the Department of Education. Four schools from different districts in the North West have been invited.

Not only will the competition provide the opportunity to scout potential players for the NWU’s men’s and women’s football teams, but it will also contribute to improving grassroots football, and encouraging collaboration between the university and various sports stakeholders in the North West province.

On the same day of the competition, each of the NWU faculties will provide presentations on the various academic programmes.
