North Zone cricket tournament: AMU, DU, SVSU, KU, CRSU register convincing wins at AMU

Aligarh:The lethal combination of batsman Hammad and left arm spinner Adil shared the spoils for Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) as Indra Gandhi University, Meerpur, Riwaris batting fell apart and lost the match by 90 runs at Willingdon Pavilion on the 5th day of North Zone Cricket tournament.

After winning the toss AMU elected to bat first, the opener Hammad keeping his best of the form played a well crafted inning of 77 and later Aman scored 49 not out , to reach the score of 200 by loosing just 5 wickets in stipulated 20 .

IGU started well and reached scored 40 runs in 4 over but collapsed as pack of cards once left arm spinner Adil was introduced in the fifth over, who took 5 wickets giving away only 17 runs in just 3 over. Only Vishal with a knock of 31 runs put some resistance but it was not enough and as they were bowled out in 16.5 with just 110 runs on the board.

On another match at Willingdon Pavilion Delhi University defeated its rival by 78 runs. Batting first DU were 5 wickets down to score 183 runs in 20 over against University of Jammu who could only manage 106 in 20 over losing 9 wickets. The two half centuries from Sahil and Mayank who scored well made 52 and 50 respectively and strike bowler Shubham match winning figure of 4 wickets for 15 runs paved the way for easy victory.

At athletics’ ground University of Allahabad lost to Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut by 48 runs, chasing 124 in 20 over, AU were bundled out for just 77 runs in 16 over. AU team all-rounder Tarun who took 2 wickets only 3 runs and scoring 36 runs from 23 balls was the man of the match.

In second match played at athletics’ ground Hemvati Nanada Bahuguna Garwal University lost to Kashmir University by 28 runs.

In the match played at 10+2 ground Chaudhary Ranbir Singh University, Jind demolished Bhim Rao Ambedkar University, Agra by 7 wickets.
