NSS, AMU spreads warmth with blanket distribution
Aligarh: As the winter chill turns harsh with each passing day, the National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers of the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) and faculty members are spreading warmth among the less privileged people by distributing blankets.
The quilts were distributed at the NSS office building, Lal Diggi Road.
“The objective of the blanket distribution campaign is to help the poor survive the cold”, said Dr Arshad Husain, Programme Coordinator, NSS.
He added: “Like every year this year too, we are witnessing an overwhelming response with a large number of underprivileged people including women and children receiving the blankets”.
Dr Husain handed out the blankets to the poor with NSS Programme Officers, S M Talha, Naved Qureshi and Pankaj Tyagi. Furqan Ahmad and Sartaj Alam also distributed the blankets.
Meanwhile at a Road Safety Awareness Camp of the NSS at the University Circle, Dr Arshad Husain stressed that the road safety education is as essential as any other basic skills of survival.
He pointed out: “Since most of the road accidents happen because of carelessness or due to lack of road safety awareness, it is imperative to provide road safety information to encourage safer road user behaviour”.
NSS Programme Officers, Mohd Shakir, Naved Qureshi and Dr Mujahid Khan with Furqan Ahmad also spoke on road safety measures and rules.
