NSS Unit of Government Degree College Sidhra organised activities to commemorate “NSS Day 2021” under the banner of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’

Sidhra : NSS Unit of Government Degree College Sidhra organised activities to commemorate “NSS Day 2021” under the banner of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’.
NSS aims to instill the idea of social welfare in students, and to provide service to society without bias. NSS volunteers work to ensure that everyone who is needy gets help to enhance their standard of living and lead a life of dignity.
NSS Unit organised Poster making Competition on the theme ‘Peace is the way, Peace is the key, for a better world for you and me’ and Declamation competition on the theme ‘Importance of Peace and Harmony for a Secular world’.
The program started with a welcome address by Dr.Mehmood Ahmed, PO NSS Unit GDC Sidhra. He threw light on the relevance and importance of the day.
A Number of students of different semesters of the college participated in the event.The participants were judged by Dr. Anshu Gupta, Head Department of Environmental Sciences and Prof. Harpreet kour, Head Department Political Science of the College. In poster making Muskaan and Anamika Verma of B.A Sem II were adjudged first whereas Sonu Kumar and Palvi Devi of B.A Sem II were adjudged at second position and third position was bagged by Deepak Nischal of B.Com sem IV, karsoom Akhter and Shehnaz of B.A Sem II. In the Declamation competition Karsoom Akhter of B.A Sem II bagged first position while Sonu Kumar Pandit and Anamika Verma both of B.A Sem II bagged second and third position respectively.
Principal, Dr.Monika Sharma also interacted with the NSS volunteers and encouraged and motivated the students with her inspirational thoughts. She further added that it is our goal to make each and every student succeed. We offer our students the best possible opportunities to become confident, thoughtful young people who are prepared for any future challenges, in an exciting and increasingly global world. She also congratulated the meritorious students as well as the student participants for their participation in the event with full enthusiasm. The program ended with a formal vote of thanks by Dr. Harpreet kour, Head Department of political science. The event was organized by Dr Mehmood Ahmed, Program Officer, NSS Unit GDC Sidhra and coordinated by Prof. Deepa Kak and Prof. Satbir kour, members, NSS Unit of the college.
