Nayagarh: The Adarsha Vidyalaya (Model School) at Notara, Nayagarh constructed by Tata Steel was inaugurated today by Dr. Arun Kumar Sahoo, Minister of State, Panchayati Raj, Law, Govt. of Odisha in the presence of Mr Arindam Dakua, IAS, District Magistrate & Collector, Nayagarh and Mr Sunil Bhaskaran Vice President, Corporate Services, Tata Steel.
Tata Steel has spent approximately Rs 4.57 crore for the construction of the model school and has provided the required classroom infrastructure as well. Built by Jamshedpur Utilities and Services Company (JUSCO), a subsidiary of the company, the two-storey school building is spread across 25,000 square feet built up area.
Addressing the gathering Dr Sahoo said, “The setting up of this adarsha vidyalaya is a matter of pride for the region and has paved way for further development. A nicely constructed school in the midst of a scenic surrounding, the school is equipped with most facilities for overall development of the students. I thank Tata Steel for their initiative and taking up such a noble cause”.
On the occasion Mr Sunil Bhaskaran, said, “We are proud of our association with the Government of Odisha to construct these adarsha vidyalayas which will go a long way in providing quality education especially to the children of underserved communities of our society. With availability of good education with supporting facilities, going forward, the students of the school can aim for higher studies and be a global citizen.”
To make quality education infrastructure available to students in far flung areas of Odisha, Tata Steel has signed MoU with the State Government to construct 30 model schools across the state. This initiative by the steel major is part of the Government of Odisha’s grand plan of setting up Adarsha Vidyalaya (Model Schools) in each block in the state. The model schools at Danagadi and Kamakhyanagar constructed by Tata Steel were inaugurated recently and 11 more schools are under construction. Tata Steel aims to complete construction of the schools and hand over to the state government by end of 2018.
Local villagers, PRI members, government functionaries, Tata Steel officials and media persons were present at the inauguration function today.
