Online internship for students and teachers of PetrSU in Germany
4th year students of the Institute of Foreign Languages of PetrSU, studying in the direction of training “Pedagogical education. German language and English”, and teachers of the Department of German and French languages Inna Vladimirovna Kreneva and Ekaterina Anatolyevna Yakovleva took part in an eight-hour online internship organized by the German Foreign Society ( DAG) located in Lubeck.
In recent years, the German foreign society has been actively helping the Institute of Foreign Languages to implement exchange programs and implement academic mobility of students and teachers. Currently, due to the restrictions associated with the prevention of the spread of coronavirus infection COVID-19, all DAG educational courses and seminars have been temporarily moved to training sites online, which allows the representatives of the ILL PetrSU to implement virtual academic mobility and improve both socio-cultural and linguistic and speech competence.
This time, the representatives of PetrSU, who became part of the international internship group, were offered a modern topic called “Actual regional studies online” on the platform for video conferencing ZOOM during the whole working day.
In the course of interactive lectures and master classes conducted by instructors from Berlin, Dusseldorf and Lübeck (you can learn more about the program here ), students and teachers of the Institute for Foreign Languages at PetrSU received valuable advice on how to properly control your voice – the main tool of a teacher in foreign language lessons, and what practical exercises are there for supporting the vocal cords.
In addition, the participants of the online internship got acquainted with the new free online tool Mentimeter , which allows them to automate lexical skills in a playful interactive form and contributes to better assimilation of foreign language vocabulary. The participants were also offered Lingo MINT didactic materials , which suggest a new approach to teaching German as a foreign or second foreign language. Materials in German for lessons in the subjects of physics, mathematics and science are developed according to age and in a form suitable for interdisciplinary integrated learning.
Participants of the interactive internship received up-to-date information related to important events in the history of German reunification in 1990 and the reunification of East and West Berlin.
Students and teachers were given the opportunity to improve their foreign language communicative competence. Participants also received certificates of online internship at the DAG and valuable authentic didactic materials that they can use in their work.
