Online lecture on Turmeric use in OSMF treatment
Aligarh : Prof Shamimul Hasan (Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology, Faculty of Dentistry, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi) shed light on the promising results of Turmeric use in the management of ‘Oral Submucous Fibrosis’ (OSMF) because of its potent anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant pharmacological actions.
He was delivering an online lecture on ‘Turmeric as a Treatment Modality in Oral Submucous Fibrosis’ of the Department of Moalejat, Faculty of Unani Medicine, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU).
Analysing the efficacy of turmeric in managing OSMF, Prof Shamimul discussed outcomes of various researches published in peer-reviewed journals on the use of Turmeric.
According to him: “Researches showed positive responses for turmeric usage in managing OSMF in terms of improved mouth opening and decreased burning sensation”.
Prof Tabassum Latafat (Chairperson, Department of Moalejat) requested the speaker to explore the areas of interdisciplinary research.
Prof Misbahuddin Siddiqi spoke on the existing scientific evidence that can lead to collaborative work.
