Oxygen Plant Inauguration – An initiative of Caterpillar Foundation, Assist International and United Way Bengaluru
A 500 LMP Oxygen Plant was inaugurated at Sri Abhinava Vidyatirtha Multispecialty Hospital of Sri Jagadguru Shankaracharya Dakshninamnaya Sringeri Sharada Peetham at Sringeri, Chikamagaluru district of Karnataka in the presence of Jagadguru Sri Sri Vidhushekara Bharati, Mahaswamiji and other dignitaries. The Oxygen Plant has been set up under the CSR initiative of Caterpillar Foundation, Assist International and NGO partner United Way Bengaluru.
This intervention will help the Hospital to cater to the needs of 50,000 community members from 64 villages and cities like Chikamangaluru and Shimoga.
During the second pandemic wave, hospitals faced an acute shortage of oxygen. By installing Oxygen Plants in government hospitals, United Way Bengaluru (UWBe), in collaboration with CSR partners Caterpillar Foundation and Assist International, took a significant step towards strengthening hospitals.
Besides Sri Abhinava Vidyatirtha Multispecialty Hospital, Oxygen Plants have been set up in three other hospitals – Rabakavi Banahatti General Hospital and General Hospital in Bagalkot District; and Sindagi Taluk General Hospital in Vijayapura district. The three hospitals cater to a population of 64,000, 1,40,000 and 4,50,000, respectively. Each of these plants has a 500 LPM capacity and is already functional. Staff of the hospitals have been trained to ensure proper usage and maintenance of the plants.
