Pearl Academy students get an exclusive opportunity to learn from top designers at New York Fashion Week
New Delhi, October 23, 2019: Fifty students from Pearl Academy – India’s leading institute in Design, Fashion, Business and Media got an exclusive opportunity to work and learn at the top designers’ fashion shows during the recently concluded New York Fashion Week and London Fashion Week. The fashion design students of Pearl Academy, which has an exclusive collaboration with Fashion Incubator India, are the only students across India to have access to New York Fashion Week, work with leading designers and get global exposure.
From Jeremy Scott’s neon rock opera and Longchamp’s dawn-to-dusk wardrobe to Tom Ford’s subway platform extravaganza, the students from the institute’s Delhi, Mumbai and Jaipur campus got an exclusive sneak peek into the Spring Summer 2020 New York Fashion show.
As part of the internship programme, students from the School of Fashion practicing different disciplines like Fashion styling, Fashion business, and Fashion design worked with leading designers from all across the world that enabled them to hone their organizational skills, while providing them with global exposure and help them build a professional network within the global fashion industry. During the program, students had an immersive experience while working behind the scenes at the world’s greatest fashion spectacle.
“This is a one-of-its-kind initiative where our students get a unique experience to work with the global fashion fraternity. We are immensely proud of our students who worked hard and showcased their potential during various fashion shows. New York and London Fashion Weeks are the perfect platforms for our students to enhance their skills and work closely with the leading designers from all across the world,” said Prof. Nandita Abraham, President, Pearl Academy.
Ten students from Pearl Academy also got an opportunity to participate in the London Fashion Week and go behind the scenes to discover an immersive innovative experience which included artistic installations, experiential space, catwalks and exciting stories on fashion trends. Students had an opportunity to work backstage, onstage and interact with designers Pam Hogg, Malan Breton showcasing at the London Fashion Week as well.
“I had a great opportunity to learn about the foreign market and that too in one of the fashion capitals, New York. This was exactly a ‘dream come true’ moment for me and I’m grateful to my mentors at Pearl Academy who made this happen and gave me this amazing opportunity,” said Komal Haralkar, fashion design student while sharing her experience at the New York Fashion Week.
Priya Deep, a fashion design student at Pearl Academy, Mumbai gives an account of her experience at the London Fashion Week. “Attending LFW was a fascinating experience. Visiting the beautiful installations and the brilliant shows across all the discrete venues, getting to see the story behind each designer’s collection and being able to get a glimpse of the preparation backstage for the show has been really inspiring. Really grateful for the experience and opportunity that I got with the help of Pearl Academy and The Fashion Incubator India, who I hope will continue to help other enthusiasts like me.”
The international experience opened-up new opportunities for the students to learn and understand the global techniques concerning fashion and endowed them with the traits that are required for working in a global environment.
