PetrSU starts implementation of a new program of additional vocational education in the field of radio photonics
PetrSU specialists have successfully completed the first stage of a joint project with the Fund for Infrastructure and Educational Programs (RUSNANO Group) to create an advanced training program “Design and production of the element base of modern radiophotonics with nanoscale components”.
The program was developed in the interests of the industrial partner of the university, OKB-Planeta JSC (Veliky Novgorod).
The second stage starts in February – training of the company’s personnel. An additional professional program is designed to improve the qualifications of engineering personnel whose labor activity is related to the production of components and modules of modern radio-photonic systems.
At present, radiophotonics is one of the most promising ways of developing microelectronics. The transition to the nano-scale of the element base and high-speed communication lines with information transfer rates of up to tens, hundreds and even thousands of Gb / s are the mainstream, for example, the creation of domestic supercomputers.
The new program provides for three educational trajectories for preparation at once:
research engineers of the component base of radio-photonic devices and systems;
design engineers of radio-photonic devices and systems;
process engineers of the component base of radio-photonic devices and systems.
The form of training is full-time and distance learning .
The standard training period is 246 hours.
The curriculum includes general professional and professional cycles.
The general professional cycle consists of:
interdisciplinary course “Physical foundations of radio-photonic components and devices”, implemented in the format of an electronic training course;
discipline “Multiphysics Modeling of Engineering Problems”, in which students will get acquainted with the software package COMSOL Multiphysics.
A key part of the training is the professional cycle, represented by three specialized modules:
“Modeling the properties of the component base of radio-photonic devices and systems”;
“Designing a component base for digital and analog fiber-optic data transmission systems”;
“Technologies of elements of radio-photonic systems”.
Compulsory industrial practice and the performance of final certification work are also provided.
This approach to the organization of training, on the one hand, allows you to make it more individualized and effective, and on the other hand, it allows you to achieve all the learning outcomes declared in the program,
– emphasized in the expert opinion Igor Vsevolodovich Rozhdestvensky, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, PhD, Associate Professor at the Institute of Advanced Manufacturing Technologies, Peter the Great St. Petersburg State Polytechnic University.
The content of the additional professional program is based on the integration of the latest approaches to research, design and production of the component base of radio-photonic devices and systems.
Research engineers of the component base of radio-photonic devices and systems will study the peculiarities of methods for studying the parameters and characteristics of the optical and optoelectronic component base, and learn how to analyze the operation of a photodiode, LED and photocells using the Semiconductors module integrated with the COMSOL Multiphysics base software package.
Design engineers of radio – photonic devices and systems will be able to perform wave optical calculations of digital and analog fiber-optic data transmission systems in the Wave Optics module of COMSOL.
Technological engineers of the component base of radio-photonic devices and systems will master methods of measuring the electrical and optical characteristics of the component base of radio-photonic devices and systems.
We invite teachers, staff and undergraduates of engineering directions of PetrSU to take part in the training.
To enroll in the program, you need to contact the staff of the department of scientific and educational programs of the Nanocenter of PetrSU.
On January 29 at 14:00 everyone will be able to take part in a free online seminar on the functionality of the “Wave Optics” module.
Participants will have the opportunity to explore the interface and basic features of the COMSOL software and determine the path of training for the CVE program.
Registration page for the event. After registration, a confirmation is sent to the mail with a direct link for viewing, which will become active 10 minutes before the start of the broadcast.
Petrozavodsk State University has been a partner of the Fund for Infrastructure and Educational Programs (RUSNANO Group) since 2014. During this time, 6 joint projects have been completed . Read more about the experience of PetrSU in the journal “Educational Policy” .
