PMKVY Trains 1.4 Crore Candidates, Announces India Skills 2023-24

The Government has said that nearly one crore 40 lakh candidates have been trained so far under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) since its launch in 2015. The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship said, PMKVY aims to provide avenues for the Indian youth to access short-term skilling opportunities. It further said that it will organise India Skills 2023-24 competition to align training standards with global benchmarks.

The Ministry stated that more than two crore 14 lakh candidates have received future skills training. These skills include Drones, Robotics, Electric Vehicles (EV), Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning and 5G technologies. Highlighting the PM Vishwakarma Yojana, the Ministry said that the scheme has been launched with an outlay of thirteen thousand crore rupees to support artisans across the country. Under this initiative, the government intends to facilitate formal training, modernize traditional skills, and offer financial support to artisans.
