POCSO Act: DLSA Reasi organises series of online awareness Programs for students

 

REASI : To promote the concept of ‘Access to Justice to All’ which is deeply embedded in the Constitutional Vision, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Reasi organized a series of On-line awareness programs for students on “The Protection Of Children From Sexual Offences Act, 2012 (POCSO Act) along with its Amendments”.

Organised under the aegis of NALSA and the guidance and supervision of R.N. Watal, Chairman District Legal Service Authority, the awareness events were held in collaboration with Higher Secondary Schools namely, Dadooa, Sujandhar, Gran, Kambal Danja, Saloon, Nomain, Sirla Bhaga, Mager, Kotla, Thoet and Bhaga of District Reasi.

These online programs were started on 9th September, 2021 and the same were continued and concluded today.

Gypsy Badyal, Member Child Welfare Committee, Reasi acted as a resource person and Advocate, Shazia Punjabi was the moderator for the online programs.

Rekha Kapoor Nischal, Secretary DLSA Reasi gave an introductory address on the topic in all these Online Programs. The Resource Person discussed in detail the provisions of ‘The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012’ along with its Amendments including the concept of ‘Good Touch and Bad Touch’ in a simple and dignified manner to the participants and Child Helpline No 1098 was also shared with the participants in all these programs.

At the end of each program an interactive session was also conducted with the students and faculty members of each school wherein they were asked to spread the awareness about the POCSO ACT among the maximum number of people in their neighbourhood. All the participants assured the DLSA Reasi that they will definitely educate the rural community about the Act as responsible citizens.

Secretary DLSA Reasi presented the vote of thanks to the resource person, school management and participants who were the part of these online programmes.
