Rajouri admin targets to provide self-employment avenues to 3160 youth; DC chairs District Skill Development Committee meet

RAJOUR: District Administration Rajouri has targeted to provide self-employment avenues to 3160 youth of the district under its skill development programme.

Deputy Commissioner, Rajesh Kumar Shavan set the target as he chaired a meeting of the District Skill Committee to review the progress and the activities being carried out in the district in terms of providing the unemployed youth with the modern skills.

The meeting was attended by Principal ITI, Director RSETI; District Coordinator Nahru Yuva Kendra, Nitin Hangloo; Assistant Director Employment, Rekha Rani; Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Fellow Joash , and other concerned Officers/officials attended the meeting.

During the meeting, a detailed discussion was held with regard to the courses to be offered, spreading awareness among the unemployed rural youths about the skill development Courses, placement and self-employment of the trained youths and other issues.

The DC said that Skill Development has a pivotal role to play in providing employment to the youth and also to meet their aspirations. He said that skill development of youth is the priority of the Government and many initiatives have been taken in this regard. He said that the goal should be to deliver quality skill training, market based and professional knowledge to the unemployed youth so that a robust skill ecosystem could be maintained in the district.

He further highlighted that quality and relevance of courses should be maintained to make the youth future ready besides factor of employability and future aspects of development in the industrial sector should also be taken into account.

The meeting decided to train the unemployed youth skills required in running the dairy industry as the district has immense potential in the dairy sector. It was informed that the District Administration is planning to open 5000 dairies in the district.

The Director RSETI was asked to start batches for pine craft training in the district at different locations, as two short term training courses have already been organized. He said that already trained youths will act as master trainers.

It was also decided in the meeting that 10 youth from each Panchayat will be provided with self Employment avenues as per the directions of LG Jammu and Kashmir.

AD employment was directed to prepare the Panchayat wise list of Mumkin Beneficiaries.
