Republic Day celebrated at the Aligarh Muslim University
Aligarh: The 71st Republic Day was celebrated at the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) with the unfurling of the tricolour at various faculties, departments, colleges, schools, residential halls and offices.
At the J N Medical College, Prof Shahid Ali Siddiqui (Principal) hoisted the National Flag and in a speech urged students, teachers and non-teaching staff to continuously contribute to the growth of the Nation, making India strong and dynamic.
After unfurling the National Flag at the Dr Z A Dental College, Prof R K Tiwari (Principal) motivated the gathering to give their heart and soul in the Nation building process.
Prof Naima Khatoon Gulrez, Principal, Women’s College hoisted the tricolour in a function filled with gaiety and enthusiasm. She said that this special day marks the transition of our Country into an independent republic after the constitution came into effect.
Delivering the Republic Day speech at the AMU ABK High School-Girls, Dr Saba Hasan (Vice Principal) spoke on the sovereignty and integrity of the Country and paid homage to Dr B R Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution.
During the celebrations at AMU ABK High School-Boys, Dr Mohd Abbas Niazi (Principal) urged students to commit for cause of Nation by giving their best in education and sports.
Mr Faisal Nafis, Principal, STS School, in his Republic Day speech to the school students said that the constitution is a vehicle of our lives and not just a document of law. He urged students to keep the enthusiasm of the Republic Day celebrations throughout the year.
The Ahmadi School for the Visually Challenged organised cultural programs to mark the occasion. Mr Adil Jaleel (Acting Principal) read the preamble of the constitution to the students and staff members.
At the Abdullah School Republic Day celebrations, Mrs Umra Zaheer (Superintendent) spoke on India’s social and economic progress and unity and cultural diversity. Students sang patriotic songs and participated in other cultural activities to celebrate the day.
Similarly, AMU Girls School observed the Republic Day with a speech by Ms Amna Malik (Principal) and cultural activities.
Prof Abid Ali Khan and Dr Anwar Shahzad, Deputy Director and Assistant Director respectively of the Directorate of Schools Education delivered motivating speeches to the students of AMU Girls’ High School to observe the Republic Day. Students also participated in cultural activities on the occasion.
Prof Mohammad Athar Ansari (Chairman, Health and Hygiene Committee) was the Chief Guest at the Begum Sultan Jahan Hall celebrations of the Republic Day. Dr Jameel Ahmad was the Guest of Honour and Dr Ali Jafar Abedi was a special guest at the celebrations. Dr Saira Mehnaz (Provost) and the guests delivered speeches on the importance of the constitution on the occasion.
At the Abdullah Hall, resident students conducted Prabhat Pheri and sang patriotic songs, said Dr Ghazala Naheed (Provost), who delivered the Republic Day speech at the hall.
National Flag was unfurled to mark the occasion at the Sir Syed Hall-North. After the flag hoisting, Prof Ishrat Alam (Provost) delivered the speech to pay homage to the founding fathers of the Nation.
After the flag hoisting at the Aftab Hall, Mr Salman Khalil (Provost) with faculty members, students and non-teaching staff pledged work for national unity.
