Riyadh International Book Fair 2022 Concludes with The Presence of More Than 1,200 Publishing Houses

RIYADH: Launched on the 29 of September by the Saudi Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission, the Riyadh International Book Fair 2022 (RIBF) has ended. As one of the largest events of its kind in the history of Saudi Arabia, the Fair hosted over a thousand local, Arabic, and international publishing houses from 32 countries. Furthermore, a reflection of Saudi Arabia’s recognition as a regional and, indeed, global literary hub, this year’s Fair attracted more than one million visitors over the ten days of programming.

 

Themed under the slogan of “Cultural Chapters”, this year’s Riyadh International Book Fair, boasted a diverse range of activities, an event-specific application, and an advanced transportation services for attendees. 

 

The event’s Guest of Honor, the Republic of Tunisia, was celebrated by the Riyadh International Book Fair through several events and programs led by intellectuals, writers, and specialists of Tunisian heritage and culture, alongside musical concerts and poetry sessions.

 

The Riyadh International Book Fair provided attendees with an integrated cognitive journey and varied cultural programs across numerous cultural sectors ranging from seminars to immersive training workshops and lively theatrical performances.

 

The CEO of the Commission, Dr. Mohammed Hassan Alwan praised the success of the event, remarking: “As a global capital, Riyadh is an important contributor to the Arab and international cultural ecosystem. The Riyadh International Book Fair has confirmed its position as a regional and world-leading event, showcased by the number of visitors, the volume of sales, diverse cultural program, and the number of participating publishing houses.”

 

The Commission honored selected winners of the Riyadh International Book Fair Awards 2022, commending those driving forward technological innovation in the publishing sector, in accordance with the following six categories: the Excellence Award in Publishing; the Excellence Award in Publishing for Children; the Excellence Award in Translation; the Excellence Award in Digital Publishing for Digital Platforms; the Excellence Award in Publishing for Saudi Content; and the Readers’ Choice Award.
